The Amazon‑backed self‑driving car maker Zoox has stopped running its Atlanta test fleet after multiple employees reported feeling effects that match exposure to a poisonous gas.

Zoox said it launched an internal probe after a worker lodged a complaint with OSHA. That filing led the firm to pause every on‑road test in Georgia as it evaluates the matter.

The OSHA submission notes that the employees experienced headaches, nausea and breathing irritation while on duty in a garage that services the fleet. Zoox’s comment said the presumed exposure happened in a sealed zone where the cars are charged and serviced, but it did not identify the specific gas.

Acquired by Amazon in 2020, Zoox has been rolling out its driverless program to multiple U.S. locales. The Atlanta location formed part of a larger expansion that also features pilots in California and Nevada.
