Trump bans CNN, MSNBC and Politico from White House visits

On Friday, President Donald Trump declared that CNN, MSNBC and Politico would be barred from entering the White House, a prohibition that took effect early Thursday morning, NPR reported.

This step continues a series of clashes with media outlets the president routinely brands as “fake news.” Through his Truth Social account, Trump has repeatedly attacked reporting he finds unfavorable, and this move represents the first occasion the White House has officially excluded several prominent newsrooms at once.

While White House staff refused to explain the precise rationale behind the exclusions, press‑freedom groups and journalists quickly condemned the action, warning it endangers the historic practice of unrestricted access to the executive branch. The Associated Press and other members of the White House press pool cautioned that the ban may hamper reporters’ capacity to obtain direct information on policy releases and presidential events.
