Nintendo confirms Switch 2 price will remain unchanged following recent hike

On the latest earnings call, Nintendo chief Shuntaro Furukawa told investors and fans that the firm will not increase the price of the newly launched Switch 2 console any further, a comment that comes after a $50 price hike earlier this year.

That adjustment raised the base price to $499, representing the first increase for a Nintendo piece of hardware in multiple generations. Analysts had floated the possibility of additional changes as the company tries to juggle manufacturing expenses against competitive pressure from rivals like Sony and Microsoft.

Furukawa made the remark while Nintendo disclosed strong sales numbers for the Switch 2, suggesting that the modest hike has not curbed demand. The device, an evolution of the original Switch’s hybrid concept, delivers better performance and a brighter screen while preserving the portable-to-TV versatility that has kept the brand atop the market for more than ten years.

Industry watchers point out that a steady price is vital to Nintendo’s wider strategy. The firm continues to grow its ecosystem through fresh game launches, a subscription offering, and an expanding range of accessories. Predictable hardware pricing sustains the platform’s attractiveness to veteran enthusiasts and newcomers alike, particularly in markets where price sensitivity is pronounced.

Going forward, Nintendo indicated it will keep an eye on market dynamics but does not expect additional price changes for the Switch 2 in the near future. The company seems focused on rolling out software updates, broadening its game catalog, and using the console’s enhanced hardware to power upcoming releases. Investors will be watching how this price stability impacts quarterly results and Nintendo’s standing in the crowded console arena.
