Western Australia’s native trapdoor spiders have been classified as endangered, sparking heightened attention from both conservationists and the general public. One of the voices joining the effort is local naturalist Jackson Rendall, who describes the arachnids as “just really cool” and believes his participation could alter the species’ outlook.
These trapdoor spiders are burrowing arachnids that build silk‑lined chambers capped with camouflaged doors that merge with leaf litter and soil.
