Blaze Entertainment Charts Long-Term Roadmap for Evercade, Pursues Deals with Major Game Studios

Blaze Entertainment, the maker of the Evercade handheld, unveiled a multi‑year strategy intended to push the console’s lifespan well past its six‑year milestone.

Sean Cleaver, who heads communications for the firm, said the plan covers three to four years and aims to strengthen the relationship with classic‑games publisher Rare while also seeking new partnerships with leading developers.

Cleaver added that talks are currently in progress with EA, Sega and Bandai Namco, but emphasized that any collaboration will hinge on the studios’ timing and preparedness. “It’s about when they’re ready to do it,” he remarked, noting that negotiations remain in early phases.

Since its debut in 2020, the Evercade has found a niche by delivering legally licensed retro games on physical cartridges. Ongoing support has been fueled by a regular flow of fresh releases and an enthusiastic collector community, leading Blaze to target another six years of backing, matching the duration it has already enjoyed.

Analysts point out that securing licences from major publishers could expand the console’s catalogue and draw a broader audience, though such agreements often involve intricate revenue splits and technical integration. Blaze’s stated goal of working more closely with Rare—a studio famed for titles like "Banjo‑Kazooie" and "GoldenEye"—may indicate an attempt to bring higher‑profile games to the system.

Going forward, the company says it will keep assessing market demand and partner interest, with plans to roll out new hardware versions or software updates as part of its long‑term vision. While the roadmap remains provisional, it signals that Evercade’s creators are dedicated to sustaining the retro‑gaming experience for the foreseeable future.
