Apple rolls out iOS 27.2, introducing multilingual Siri AI and essential security fixes
Apple has started distributing iOS 27.2 to iPhone and iPad owners, a mid‑cycle refresh that adds Siri’s artificial‑intelligence features for additional languages and bundles a set of security patches targeting known flaws.
The launch follows Apple’s standard rhythm of yearly flagship releases supplemented by smaller updates. iOS 27.2 replaces the 27.1 version that debuted earlier this year and arrives as the company faces intensified scrutiny over privacy safeguards and the fast‑moving landscape of conversational AI.
The headline improvement is the broadened language support for Siri’s AI‑driven assistant. Apple states the update now accommodates major world tongues such as Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese and Hindi, enabling users to converse with Siri in their native language while receiving the same contextual understanding as the English edition.
Security constitutes the other pillar of the rollout. Apple’s release notes enumerate a collection of fixes that remedy vulnerabilities capable of permitting remote code execution, data leakage and possible privilege escalation. While the firm does not disclose specific CVE numbers publicly, the patches are described as “critical” and are urged to be installed without delay.
Compatible devices will see the update appear automatically via Settings → General → Software Update. The distribution is staggered to avoid overtaxing Apple’s servers, and the company advises users to back up their devices before proceeding, as is customary for any system‑level change.
Analysts view iOS 27.2 as evidence that Apple intends to keep expanding Siri’s language repertoire while bolstering the operating system’s defensive posture. The move mirrors broader industry trends that prioritize AI accessibility and cybersecurity, and it sets the stage for the next incremental release expected later this year, likely building on the same foundations.
