Amazon CEO predicts Prime Video will generate tens of billions in revenue

During the latest earnings briefing, Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy informed investors that Prime Video is projected to generate revenue in the tens of billions of dollars, a landmark achievement for the streaming division and a sign of its swift growth since inception.

He pointed to recent headline attractions—including the sci‑fi adaptation Project Hail Mary and the thriller Verity—as evidence of Prime Video's pull with sizable viewership. Though these titles have earned praise and sparked subscriber curiosity, Jassy noted they constitute just a segment of the service’s overall expansion plan.

The service is woven into Amazon’s broader ecosystem, packaged together with the flagship Prime membership that already provides free shipping, music, and cloud storage. Such bundling reduces the incremental cost of adding viewers and supplies Prime Video with an inherent audience that competitors such as Netflix must attract via distinct subscriptions.

The platform’s income derives from multiple channels. While subscriptions stay the primary engine, Amazon introduced an ad‑supported tier that lets users view programming with occasional commercials, opening a fresh advertising revenue stream. Moreover, licensing arrangements, co‑production partnerships and merchandise sales further contribute to the financial outlook.

Analysts interpret the statement as evidence that Amazon aims to pit Prime Video more forcefully against entrenched rivals. Forecasts of tens of billions in revenue imply the service is slated to become a key profit engine, likely shaping upcoming spending on original content, global rollout and tech upgrades like better recommendation algorithms.

Looking forward, Jassy said the slate of forthcoming series and movies is expected to sustain subscriber additions and ad‑based earnings. In the coming fiscal year, Amazon plans to launch more localized offerings for markets outside the United States, a step that could solidify Prime Video’s worldwide presence. Investors will monitor closely to determine if the anticipated revenue materializes amid an ever‑crowded streaming arena.
